The Cave Canem master class inspired Poetic Black Fusion, a writer's group for Black poets currently living in the Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is hosted at the Loft Literary Center or wherever Black poets raise the banner. Cedric Bolton, also known as Blackman Preach, was inspired by Cave Canem member Elizabeth Alexander to institute a group to continue discussion on Black poets, forms, style, voice and other poetry formats. The group have had the opportunity to be in workshops with Tyehimba Jess, Nikky Finney and Willie Perdomo.
Poetic Black Fusion has grown incredibly and the not-so-average, average and above-average poet to attend their sessions and contribute to the workshop. The extended hands of Poetic Black Fusion have stretched well beyond Minneapolis, Minnesota and have poets in New York, Illinois, Africa, EnglandÑMississippi and Toronto, Canada.

Wisdom
A stature man once told me
that I have the voice of many
hypnotized by his gray lazy pupils
mirrored a reflection of history's past
while holding his staff he paralleled it
to
the
world
wisdom explained the journeys
the struggles
the battles
& the lives lost in our advance toward
social change & equality
& must not forget the sacrifices
of our ancestors--for to forget
would mean
they as well
as all of us
would not exist
it's time to resurrect the spirits of
the dead and gone
into
men, women & children, so, their stories
will not die but live in our hears & minds forever.
